More About Me

A native of Arlington, VA, and lifelong resident of the Washington, DC area, Michael has had an intrigue with and involvement in real estate that began early on. Shortly after graduation from Randolph-Macon College in Ashland, VA, he moved into his first home in Petworth and subsequently purchased numerous other properties. Residing in DC since 2006, his knowledge of the neighborhoods throughout DC, Maryland, and Virginia runs deep and is a valuable asset to his clients.

Michael’s philosophy of ‘Superior Service, Delivering Results’ reflects his effective approach and has earned him much success. He has been recognized in Washingtonian Magazine’s Best Real Estate Agent list every year since 2015 and is the founder of The Makris Group at McEnearney, where he’s been selling for over a decade. In 2021, he achieved over $20M in sales volume alone.

Key to his practice is the connections and relationships he builds with loyal, satisfied clients, and the belief that the business is just as much about people as it is about properties. “Sure we help others buy, sell, rent, and invest in houses and buildings, but close interaction with clients, being empathetic and understanding of their needs, and being communicative throughout the process are equally important. My clients know I truly care about them as a person, not just the transaction at hand.”

Michael honed his skills selling local/regional TV advertising and in hospitality for several restaurants in DC and Bethesda before pursuing his passion for real estate and becoming a full-time agent. When not working hard for his clients, he loves spending time with his wife Katie, two boys, Elias and Emett, their dog Ezra and tuxedo cat Jameson. His other favorite pastimes include attending sports events like Nationals and Commanders games as a season ticketholder, trying new local restaurants, traveling, concerts, and theatre. Michael and his family are also very supportive of multiple non-profit organizations in the DC area, including among others, Children’s National Hospital, DC Scores, the MS Society’s Greater DC-Maryland chapter, and the Brain Tumor Society’s Race for Hope DC.

Trust Michael as your local expert and reliable real estate resource, whether you’re looking to buy or sell, are seeking advice on the current market to shape your decisions, want to expand your investment portfolio, or rent a property.
